Subject: Upcoming February 27 City Council Resolution

Mayor Zak,

I'm sad to see the article posted on social media regarding an upcoming resolution to basically become a sanctuary city for illegal aliens.  I am not a resident of Homer but rather Soldotna.  My family does bring our motor homes and boats to Homer consistently throughout the summer months and have enjoyed your fair city regularly throughout the year frequenting many of your local businesses.

From the research that I read the voters of Homer made their wishes known when they voted to elect Donald Trump to be the 45th president of the United States.  So, why would your Council even entertain such a ridiculous resolution?  Understand that if Homer does vote to pass such a resolution I will make sure that my family and everyone we know that visits Homer not only throughout the summer months but also during the winter finds a better place to spend our hard earned money because we stand by our votes and will not spend any further money in Homer.  This type of nonsense will affect all of the local businesses and in turn may very well affect elected officials as they seek re-election.

I urge you to think clearly and stand by the President of the United States as elected by the electoral college created by our Constitution.  If members of your City Council need a lesson in why our forefathers created the Electoral College please me know.  As a teacher I would be happy to given them a lesson in history and why we are the greatest nation in the world.

Thank you for your time.

Melanie Beverly
