Subject: Extremely disappointed

Dear Mayor Brian Zak,

It's disappointing that as a lifetime Alaskan we will be skipping our annual trips to Homer this summer.  Your recent decision to resist and disrespect the president of the United States does not sit well with my family.  The people have voted (lawfully) and your feelings and opinions about the new president do not allow you to create your own laws outside the federal government.  Our country has been built immigrants Mayor Zak, legal immigrants like my great grandparents that arrived on the boat from Italy.  Our country was not built on refugees.  This great country has a big heart and we do allow refugees to come in lawfully, each and every single year. Take a 90 day pause is not too much to ask while systems are in place to protect our nation.

I would suggest you watch this excellent representation on world poverty and immigration.  https://youtu.be/LPjzfGChGlE

We have had 8 years under a president that not all of us agreed with yet we respectfully let him do his job.

For now, the thousands and thousands of dollars we spend in Homer each year will be spent in cities like Seward or maybe we will go to Haines this year.

Respectfully,

Ellen Riley
