I support resolution 17-019

Hi, I am a 20 plus year resident ( 56880 Bradley Lane, PO Box 1717, Homer) and I support resolution 17-019; the federal actions it refutes are important to stand against because they:
-amount to an unfunded mandate from the federal government,
-create a sense of dis-ease among some residents of Homer who have immigrated here, and
-create a class of Homer people who will think twice before calling the police to help with community violence and crime because of fear of not having federal paperwork in order.
Thank you for considering my point of view on this.

The kind and inclusive nature of Homer is the reason I am raising successful student athletes and fisher women here. It is the reason I nurse and coach here. It is the reason we keep our boat here instead of cheaper ports. This resolution supports the education we are providing our young people to be resilient, stand up to bullies, be inclusive. Everyone in Homer is an immigrant from elsewhere in the last 150 years. We can uphold the law and protect all of the good people who have made it to the end of the road. Just like me.
