Dear City Council and Mayor Zak,
I'm writing to express my support of Resolution 17-019. As written and introduced, this Resolution is a basic statement of the way the City of Homer currently operates. The City, and its surrounding communities, thrive through diverse people and diverse views. You don't have to look beyond our City boundaries to see expressions and instances of intolerance over the past several months, and I can't write any story where it hurts the City to declare that it operates and will continue to operate with underlying assumptions of inclusion and fairness under local, State and Federal law.
I encourage Council to pass Resolution 17-019, and appreciate the work that you all do to help run the City.

City Resident
(It may be useful, in light of many of the various conspiracy-laden concerns expressed when this Resolution came out, to think about ways to creatively engage the community in learning more about City government and civics. I'm not sure that's the job of Council or the City, especially in very lean fiscal times, but it may be worth thinking about and engaging partners in the schools, college, and elsewhere to work towards a more robust appreciation of our public process and how to meaningfully participate.)
