Proposed Resolution

Mayor Bryan Zak,

This is in reference to proposed Resolution 17-xxx.  regarding
separating Homer from any of President Trumps ideas if the "city"
dislikes them.   I paraphrase only so that you know which resolution I
am referring to.

I am not a city resident but live on Skyline Drive on my wife's
grandparents homestead. Her family has lived here since 1938.  I don't
feel that I can participate in your city vote, being that we are out of
the city limits, but I would like it on the record that I feel betrayed
by this resolution.  It's passage would say to the world that Homer area
residents, including my family,  are the most "intolerable" people in
Alaska.  I don't want my family labeled in that way.     Homer, in my 40
year residency, has always been a mix of many different people with many
different views and admirably were all able to deal with each other.

My understanding is that Homer area residents overwhelmingly voted for
Trump (me included) and for Homer City Council to adopt this ordinance
is to ignore that fact.  We need to be tolerant of this new president
and give him and his administration a fair chance to make this country
better. We are college educated people who own a small business and
employ many people and we voted for President Trump for many reasons,
the economy, the danger of open borders and the deepening racial divide
in this country that got worse, not better, since Obama was elected.

We do not hate any race but we believe in law and order. We do not
believe we should create a sanctuary city because we believe in the rule
of law. Mexico has become lawless and out of control and that is not
what we choose for our country. Immigration is not a bad thing when it
is done legally and when people choose to follow law and order. We
support good government and our police forces all across Alaska.
