Subject: Inclusivity Resolution

Dear Council Members and Mayor Zak,

I would first like to thank you all for your willingness to fulfill a leadership role in our wonderful community. Being a leader is a diverse community cannot be easy, something which we have seen the likes of this past 2 weeks.

I am extremely disappointed to see a resolution brought forward that never had a chance of bringing our community together as it is being framed it should do. It is being used to frame members of our community that don't agree with it, as horrible people, something that this very verbiage says we as a community don't tolerate. Leading in our community requires one to know when restraint is necessary for the good of the community.

Using agendas to divide our community is completely unacceptable and those that have done the research on this resolution know that the wording is part of a much larger movement by groups outside Alaska. This very same verbiage is being presented in towns and cities all over the country. Leading our community to think that this resolution helps make Homer a leader in tolerance and inclusiveness is absolutely false. It was copied!! Homer is definitely more creative than that.

We are the community that we are because most of us practice tolerance and respect of those who have different beliefs than ours. I hope we haven't lost that in some of our community members.

I ask that you all unanimously vote against this resolution that does and has already done exactly the opposite of what it intends. While some damage has been done, hopefully standing against this unanimously will send an equally strong message.

Thanks for your time and for your service,

Janna Davis
